Lateral Augmentation

One of the most common indications is lateral augmentation of the highly atrophic alveolar ridge. A standard supplementary measure is the lateral filling of the defect at the neck of the implant to correct the buccal or vestibular bone deficit.

In such cases, the implant should be in place before the defect is filled.

The alveolar ridge is restored to its original volume by contouring and gently molding the bone grafting material NanoBone® to fit the reduced lateral bone volume.

It is possible to cover the area with an absorbable membrane, but this should be decided on a case-by-case basis. Tension-free wound closure should ensure the wound heals well.
