Faster bone healing due to microparticles

1

Substrate

Hydrogel on a polymer silica base - Identical ingredients

3

Microparticles

Granules and microparticles have indentical composition and nanostructure: Nanostructured hydroxyapatite in a highly porous silica gel matrix.

NanoBone® FIT and FLO

Microworld

The inner surface of granules and microparticles is characterized by nanopores, which determine the interaction with autologous proteins. The outer surface of granules and microparticles - i.e. the geometry - determines the cell reaction.

NanoBone® Granule

The pin-cone shaped granule with fractal surface has a 10 times larger surface area than a smooth body.

10 times larger outer surface by same mass

NanoBone® Microparticles

500,000 microparticles have the same mass as one granule. As a result, the outer surface of the Microparticles is 10 times larger.

Granules versus microparticles

  • The interaction with autologous proteins is identical in both product groups.
  • The new NanoBone® products FIT and FLO contain only 1/5 of the solid content compared to SBX Putty.
  • The outer surface and the cell contact are nevertheless twice as large.
  • As a result, the cell activity is greatly increased in the microparticle products.

Mode of action
Microparticle-Products

Defect healing begins with the degradation of the carrier material and neovascularization of the defect occurs. The silica gel matrix is replaced by a matrix of autologous proteins as in the application with the SBX Putty.

Advantages of the microparticles-products

  • Faster healing due to Nanobone microparticles
  • Direct adaptation of the lamellar bone to the external mechanical load
  • New application possibilities through variation of the carrier material
  • Possibility of injection through cannula
  • Perfect handling due to wax-like structure

NanoBone® FIT

Microparticle-based products: Complete incorporation of the microparticles into the developing trabecular woven bone. Microparticles outside the bone are resorbed. When the defect is completely healed by remodeling the trabecular woven bone into higher quality lamellar bone, the entrapped microparticles are also degraded. With the SBX Putty any remaining biomaterial must be degraded in addition to this remodeling process.
